Ernest Willard Bumgarner, 82, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Henry and Selma Singleton Bumgarner. Ernest was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He provided fire wood in the community and he loved to garden and enjoyed reading the Bible. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bobbie Jean Blaylock Bumgarner; one son, Dane Bumgarner and his wife, Shannon, of Canton; two daughters, Sherry Saams and her husband, Steve, of Canton, and Shelia Cook of Candler; two sisters, Joan Pless of Canton, and Ivalee Elingburg of Candler; and one granddaughter, Jessica Saams. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley and the Reverend Howard Pless officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
