Ernest Pilkey

Ernest Norman Pilkey, Sr., age 61 of 38 Reed Street died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a native of Swain County and the son of Alma Smith Pilkey of Roberta, GA and the late Chandler Pilkey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Pilkey and a sister, Margaret McMahan. He graduated in 1962 from Swain County High School where he was valedictorian of his class. He was an employee of Hickory Construction and a former employee of Champion International. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alice Pilkington Pilkey; a daughter Dedee Pilkey and her husband, Keith Hall of Canton; a step-daughter Kimberly Scott of Canton; a son, Ernest Norman Pilkey, Jr. of Canton; a brother, Lee Pilkey of Roberta, GA and two grandchildren Jared Wade and Makayla Pilkey. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Center Pigeon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. At other times, the family will be at the home.
