Ernest Summey

Canton - Ernest Lee "Boney" Summey, 54, of the North Canton Community passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Asheville Specialty Hospital.

He was the son of Geneva Brown Summey of Canton and the late Jim Summey. He was employed with Evergreen Packaging with 27 years of service and was a member of the North Canton Fire Department for 20 years. Boney participated in the Haywood County Labor Day Wagon Train for 37 years, 17 of these years having served as "Wagon Master".

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teresa Burnette Summey of Canton; three daughters, Renee Brooks and her husband, Johnny, of Asheville, Leeann Summey of Canton, and Tracie Lunsford and husband, Cory, of Canton; two sisters, Freida McCall of Springfield, South Carolina, and Debbie Summey of Canton; a brother, Clayton Brown and his wife, Pennie, of Canton; two grandchildren; Chase Summey and Justin Lunsford; two step-grandchildren, Leigha Pressley and Scott Gray; and special family friends, Autumn Henson and Crystal Owen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November, 10, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James Johnson and Reverend Zachary Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
