Canton – Ernestine Padgett Burch, age 96, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Brian Center of Waynesville. She was a native of Clay County but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. Ernestine was a daughter of the late Glenn and Flora Smith Padgett and was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Burch, who died in 1963; an infant son; two sisters; two brothers, and a grandson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed her home and family. She is survived by a daughter; Nancy Burch Fowler and her husband, Donald, of Canton; a son, Richard Burch and his wife, Connie, of Clyde; three sisters; one brother; two granddaughters, Kathy Holmes and Wendy Burch; two grandsons, Steve Fowler and his wife, Donna, and Scott Fowler, and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road with Reverend Doug Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
