Ernestine Mauney Burnette, age 84, of the Bethel Community, died on Friday, May 28, 2010, at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center, Asheville, NC. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Tom and Eva Robinson Mauney. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Max Burnette, who died in 2003. She was employed with Haywood County Hospital for more than 20 years serving as an operating room nurse. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a former member of Haywood County Home Demonstration Club. Ernestine was an expert seamstress, an avid gardener, and she enjoyed reading. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Henson and her husband, Neal, of Kingsport, TN and Karen Burnette and her husband, Gary Miller, of Mills River; two sisters, Edith Crocker of Smithfield, VA and Martha Hovis of Charlotte; a brother, Hilray Mauney of Pasadena, TX; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Bethel Community Cemetery with the Reverend Larry Sprinkle officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
