Holmes Beach, FL, Erskine Brewster Kingsbury Calderon, age 68, of Holmes Beach, FL and Waynesville, NC, died Saturday, August 16, 2008. He was the son of the late Victor M. and Elisabeth Kingsbury Calderon. Erskine's maternal grandfather, Dr. Albert Kingsbury, was the inventor of the fluid-film thrust bearing. Dr. Kingsbury was also the founder of the Kingsbury Machine Works Company presently known as Kingsbury, Inc., headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. He attended the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton School and was a member of DKE. He was co-owner of Kingsbury, Inc. and held the position of Vice-President of Marketing and was a member of the Board of Directors for 19 years, retiring in 1984. Erskine was also a life member of the ATA. He was a member of MENSA, Atlantic Indians and American Woodturners Association. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diana L. Calderon; three sons, Erskine B. "Bruce" Calderon of MD; Wayne J. Calderon and his wife, Laura, of Sarasota, FL; Matthew M. Calderon of Gainesville, FL; two sisters, Elisabeth C. Beardow of CA and Valerie F. Schirmer of CT; a brother, Victor F. Calderon of Sarasota, FL; three nieces, Michelle Berg, Christine and Megan Dent; three nephews, Warren Bradley Beardow, Jr., Justin and Morgan Dent; one brother-in-law, David Dent and his wife, Karen, of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Dent of NY and two grandchildren, Samuel and Nicholas Calderon. Private services will be held in Waynesville, NC. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, Canton, OH 44720.
