Esther Kirkpatrick

Lexington, Esther Nell Fisher Kirkpatrick, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Carolina House in Lexington, North Carolina. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late David Cleveland and Annie Mildred Rathbone Fisher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Kirkpatrick, who died in 1994; step-son, Terry Kirkpatrick; sisters, Rose Parkins, Glee Messer, Hazel Harris and Marie Ewart; brothers, Ben, Robert and James Fisher; and a step-grandson, Johnny Kirkpatrick. Esther was a devoted Christian and enjoyed attending Spruce Street Missionary Baptist Church, as well as being a member of White Oak Baptist Church. She also enjoyed working in her garden and canning its bountiful harvest. Esther is survived by two daughters, Evon Brown (Carl) of Thomasville and Kathy K. Sumner (Jerry) of Lexington; a son, Paul William Kirkpatrick Jr. (Sharon) of Clyde; four grandchildren, LaMista Tortora of Port Orange, Florida, Brandy Davis (Josh) of Archdale, North Carolina, Pamela Widener (Robert) of Lexington, Shandon Kirkpatrick of Clyde; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Coats and Sammy Allison officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
