Esther Ray Nesbitt, born on September 12, 1934, in Columbus County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her residence on September 20, 2024. 

She was a pillar of kindness, known for her warm and welcoming demeanor, and exemplified a remarkable work ethic that inspired those around her.  Esther took great pride in her yard, ensuring its beauty mirrored her nurturing spirit. She cherished family reunions, where her love for family was always on display.  Esther enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including her passion for painting, which allowed her to express her creativity and share joy with others. Additionally, she crafted beautiful Christmas wreaths that were cherished by many family and friends, becoming a beloved tradition during the holiday season.

She is survived by her son, Rick Sasser of Asheville, and her grandsons, Joel and Greg Sasser, who will greatly miss her love and guidance.

Esther was preceded in death by her father, Zeno Ray, her mother, Luna B. Wright, her husband, Willis Lee Nesbitt, who left this world on December 31, 1993, her daughter, Cheri Sasser, as well as her brothers, Patrick Ray and Floyd Ray, and her sister, Valma Ray Hardwick.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on September 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with Reverend Amy Leachman officiating, followed by a funeral service to celebrate Esther's life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Wells Chapel of Faith - Candler, located at 1 Chapel of Faith Drive, Candler, NC 28715. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 123 W Antrim Dr, Greenville, SC 29607.

The care of Mrs. Nesbitt has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
