Ethel Allen

Canton-Ethel Smathers Allen-100, formerly of the Kims Cove Community died Monday, December 23, 2002 at Canton Heatlh Care Center.

She was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Turner and Mollie Massie Smathers. She was the wife of the late James Carl Allen who died in 1987. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Morning Star United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Dare Jackson and her husband Jim of Fruitland Park, one son, Blake Allen of Canton and a son-in-law, John Bob Smith of Asheville, one sister, Edna Drye of Canton, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2002 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Doug Love officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
