Cruso – Ethel Leugeana Norris Heatherly, age 96, of Cruso, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. Mrs. Heatherly was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was one of 10 children born to the late Tom Norris and Etta Kuykendall Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Heatherly of 69 years; two sons, Bruce Heatherly, who died in 1936; and Buford Heatherly, who died in 1937; five sisters; and three brothers. Mrs. Heatherly was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church. She retired from Hudson's Department Store in Canton. She loved working in flowers and helping others. Surviving are two sons, Bobby Heatherly, and his wife, Beverly Miller Heatherly, of Canton, and Bill Heatherly, and his wife, Violet Ann Woody Heatherly, of Lousiville, KY; a brother, Glenn Norris, and his wife, Lillian Norris, of Waynesville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Rhinehart and Reverend Mark Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in New Cruso Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
