Ethel Kuykendall

Waynesville-Ethel Mae James Kuykendall, age 84, of 165 Tarheel Drive, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

She was a native and life long resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Earnest James and Margaret Regina James Jones. She was the wife of the late Fletcher Enic Kuykendall, Jr. who died in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen Kuykendall Rathbone, who died in 1995. She was a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. She loved cooking, sewing and children.

She is survived by her son, Rickey Kuykendall, Sr. and his wife, Dianne of Newnan, Georgia; son-in-law, Stan Rathbone and his wife, Shirley of Church Hill, TN; sister-in-law, Edna Pitts of Waynesville; two nephews, Jimmy Kuykendall and his wife, Wendy of North Carolina and Mike Byrd and his wife, Molly of Georgia; five grandchildren, Tammy Hines and her husband, Stacey, Paula Kuykendall Blair, Lisa Davis, Rickey Kuykendall, Jr. and his wife, Wendy, and Dana Cox and her husband, Tony; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. The Reverend Larry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
