Ethel Watts Ledbetter, age 79, of Hill Top Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Macon County, she was a daughter of the late William and Josephine Evett Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Bryson Ledbetter, who died November 14, 2007. Ethel was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, gardening, and reading. She was also a long time volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Haywood County. She is survived by one son, Doyle Ledbetter of Canton; three daughters, Deborah Riggeal and her husband, Greg, of Gettysburg, PA, Lorna Ashe and her husband, Denton, and Verda Davis and her husband, Richard, all of Canton; one sister, Rosetta Reed of High Point, NC; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Foster, Reverend Mark Golden, and Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Lorna Ashe. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 486 E.
