Clyde- Ethel Stuart, age 88, of Jones Cove Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 14, 2014 at MedWest-Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wayne William and Fannie Mae Chambers Medford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman William Stuart, Sr. who died in 2011; two sisters, Janet and Kathleen and one brother, Charles. Ethel enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens and was an avid Braves fan. Many will remember Ethel from her years of association with Medical Arts Pharmacy and Smiths Drug Store. Her pride and joy were her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Gayla Jones and her husband, Bill, of Canton; a son William Stuart, Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Arden; two sisters, Nancy Wells of Canton; Beulah Zumwalt of Deer Park, Texas; three brothers, Robert Medford and his wife, Gwen, Harold Medford and his wife, Wilda and George Medford all of Clyde; two brothers-in-law, Roy Stuart and his wife, Viola, of Canton, and R.W. Stuart and his wife, Naomi, of Bethel; five grandchildren, Wendy Stubblefield and her husband, Phil, of Arden, Carl Garrett, Jr. serving in Afghanistan, Reverend Nathan Garrett and his wife, Nancy, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jennifer Gonzalez and her husband, Jose, of Fletcher and Will Stuart, III and his wife, Andrea, of Woodfin and 13 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Ellen, Philip III, and Henry Stubblefield, Nolan, Peyton, Eli, Evan and Zoe Garrett, Adrian and Amaury Gonzalez , Erin Wilson, Cameron Stuart, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan S. Blaylock, Reverend Nathan Garrett and Reverend W.O. "Bill" Henson officiating. Followed by an inurnment committal service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ethel's caregivers, Carolyn Seay and Sue Zarczynski.
