Ethel Williams

September 19, 1922 — April 23, 2016

Asheville, Ethel Campbell Williams, 93, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016. A native of Macon, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Albert Vining and Alice Kendrick Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harley M. Williams, who passed away on March 4 of this year; five sisters; Margaret Jordan, Mimi Boyd, Marcella Stringer and Jeanette Campbell. She was a graduate of Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and had worked as Director of Christian Education for several Methodist churches. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Asheville. Ethel is survived by two daughters, Ginger Rutland, and her husband, John, of Waynesville and Marie Paschal, and her husband, Jim, of Asheville and Panama City Beach, Florida; two grandsons, Jeremy Rutland (Kristee) and Jarrett Rutland (Natalie); two granddaughters, Jennifer Paschal (Monica) and Heather Paschal; one great-grandson, Christopher; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Givens Chapel with Reverend Ed Hillman and Reverend Tammy Bales officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. Memorials may be sent in her memory to the Residence Assistance Fund at Givens Estate 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803
