Clyde - Eugene Limbo, age 72, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Brian Center of Waynesville.
He was a native of and had resided in Haywood County most of his life. He resided in Transylvania County for five years. He was the son of the late Clyde Wesley and Texie Mashburn Limbo. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and George Limbo.
He retired from Champion International in 1999 with 34 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a former coach for Clyde Little League basketball, Canton Little League baseball for six years and scoutmaster of Troop #309, Clyde. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Judy S. Limbo, he is survived by three sons, Timothy Eugene Limbo and his wife, Becky of Hickory, NC, Terry Joe Limbo and his wife, Pat of Benson, NC, and Theodore Wesley Limbo and his wife, Mickie of Canton; a sister Linda Lowe of Clyde; eight grandchildren, Chad, Summer, Misty, Mandy, Jeremy, Brandy, Rachel and Cameron Limbo; one great-grandson, Nathan Limbo and two step-grandchildren, Diane Steadman and Ray Hall, Jr.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with the Reverend Bruce Cayton and Reverend Naomi King officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post #47. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 2855 Thickety Road, Clyde.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or American Lung Association, P.O. Box 2702, Asheville, NC 28802.
