Eugene Morris

November 11, 1932 — June 10, 2004

Waynesville-Eugene S. Morris, age 71, of Flag Street, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John F. and Myrtle Morris. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Beulah McElroy. He was a production manager at Pride Shoe Industries and Wellco. He was an army veteran of Korean Conflict and was a member of DAV Chapter 89, VFW Post 5202, and the American Legion Post 47. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karoline Morris; a daughter, Tootsie Enloe and her husband, Bo, of Waynesville; three sons, Johnny Eugene Morris and his wife, Yolanda, of Greenville, SC, Billy Morris and his wife, Theresa, of Macclenny, FL, and Bob Morris and his wife, Marla, of Clyde; three sisters, Lucille Franklin and Buntsy Putnam of Waynesville and Gerb Milner of Clyde; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Reverend Claude Conard officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military services. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny, Bob, Bill, and Chris Morris, and Bo and Sam Enloe. Lewis Green will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
