Eugene Rouser

February 20, 1927 — January 14, 2007

Maggie Valley-Eugene "Gene" Carmichael Rouser, age 79, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007 surrounded by love. A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, he lived most of his life in Haywood County. Gene was co-owner of The Insurance Center of Waynesville and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. Throughout his life, Gene was the manager of many insurance agencies. In his younger years, Gene was an avid pilot, and enjoyed flying his planes. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating, classic cars, and loved being outdoors enjoying nature. He had a very creative spirit and above all else, was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He was the son of the late Elsie Tate and Lewis Rouser. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Rodau and Joan Warren; two brothers, Bud and Tate Rouser. Gene is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Ruth Rouser; a daughter, Debbie Kirkpatrick and her husband, Taylor of Clyde; two sons, Bill Rouser and his companion, Robin Shuster of Black Mountain and Mike Rouser and his wife, Cecily of West Palm Beach, FL; one brother, Ray Rouser and his wife, Betty of Waynesville and three grandchildren, Laura Rouser of West Palm Beach, FL, Rhianna Kirkpatrick and her fiancé, Hilton Ritter of Chapel Hill and Jessica Kirkpatrick of Waynesville. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
