Eula Conard

Waynesville-Eula Beatrice Conard, age 75, died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Brian Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Gaddy and Juanita Cagle Leatherwood; her first husband, Medford Grasty who died in 1998 and her second husband, Joe Conard who died in 2002; a son, Charles Grasty and a sister, Joann Leatherwood Tucker. Beatrice was a member of Lake Junaluska Baptist Church and was employed by American Enka for 19 ½ years and Lea Industries for 10 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed camping at Cataloochee, sewing and flower gardening. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Owen and her husband, Howard and Janet Messer and her husband, Richard, all of Waynesville; a son, Harold Grasty and his wife Pat of Lake Junaluska; four grandchildren, Kristie Holcombe, Lisa Messer, Courtney Messer and Wayne Grasty; five great-grandchildren, Jake Holcombe, Melanie Holcombe, Keifer Messer and Logan and Lauryn Grasty. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007 at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the home of Harold Grasty, 1206 Rogers Cove Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Claude Owens, Mike Rathbone, Richie Gaddis, Wayne Grasty, David Sutton, Steve Davis, Andrew Haney, Chris Massey and Johnny Price.
