Eula Ford

Eula Childers Ford, age 94, dear mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Silver Bluff Nursing Home on Thursday, February 21, 2008, after a brief period of declining health following a fall on February 3. She was born on May 19, 1913, in the Connelly's Creek area of Swain County to Alden and Margaret Kimsey Childers. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Voyd, and her seven sisters and brothers. A graduate of Swain High School, she continued her education at Cecil's Business College and Continental College in High Point, NC. She retired as a secretary from Champion International in 1978 after 20 years of service and was a faithful member of Haywood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, serving as a patient volunteer for 25 years. She was a church clerk, deacon, and primary Sunday School teacher for many years at Canton's First Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Glenn Price of Winston-Salem and Linda and Randy Howell of Denver, NC; three grandchildren, Glenn and Melissa Price of Advance, NC, Melissa and Warren Williams of Fayetteville, NC, and Laurie and Jeff Dudash of Minneapolis, MN; and five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, and Katherine Williams, Ethan Price, and Emily Dudash. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ed Oakley officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Harley Caldwell, J. R. Caldwell, Raymond Caldwell, Alden Childers, Ernest Childers, and Linton Palmer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The daughters express heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Arrowhead Cove and Silver Bluff for their loving care.
