Eva Davis

Clyde-Eva Conner Davis, age 83, of 1594 Hospital Drive, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Mark S. and Mintie Aveline Wood Conner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Theodore Davis, Sr., who died in 1994; a daughter, Bonnie Joan Rogers; and five brothers, Joe, Eamus, Berlin, Henry, and Arrey Conner; two sisters, Pearl and Dallas Conner. She was an employee of Wellco and enjoyed canning, gardening, and helping out at Christopher's Farm. She was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gilbert T. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Waynesville and Richard Davis and his wife, Verda, of Canton; two sisters, Florence Davis of Asheville and Elizabeth Wright of Waynesville; two brothers, Willie Conner of West Virginia and Brownlow Conner of Waynesville; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ernest Messer and Reverend James Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Serving as pallbearer will be Kris and Jerome Davis, Buddy Noland, Jack Chambers, and Jeff and Tim Gibson.
