Evelyn Kuykendall

Waynesville, Evelyn Clark Kuykendall, age 85, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at The Homestead. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late William Grover and Lily Barnett Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Kuykendall, who died in 2003 and one brother, Doug Clark. Evelyn worked as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell and Wellco Corporation for many years before becoming a registered nurse. She is survived by two daughters, Darlene K. Penny and her husband, Hugh, of Columbia, South Carolina and Teresa K. Robbins and her husband, Harry Robbins, Jr., of Waynesville; one son, Don G. Kuykendall and his wife, Judith Ann, of Rougemont, North Carolina; three sisters, Dorothy C. Young of Weaverville and Diane C. Martinez and Barbara C. Matthews, both of Asheville; one brother, James T. Clark, of Marshall; three granddaughters, Amy Lee Penny of Atlanta, Katy Penny Myers of Anderson, South Carolina, and Andrea E. Robbins of Mebane, North Carolina; and three great-grandchildren, Anna Lee Robbins and Cole and Elizabeth Myers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.
