Waynesville-Evelyn Ruth Harrop Overman, 83, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, but moved to Haywood County later in life. Evelyn was born July 5, 1940, to the late Harold Theadore and Marion Carpenter Harrop. She was also number 13 of 18 children. Evelyn worked in retail at Walmart.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Davis, as well as fourteen brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a daughter; Lorie Ray (Dean) of Waynesville; son, Lynn Overman (Deborah) of Maggie Valley; sister, Shirley Levesque of North Attleboro, MA., and three brothers; Norman of Knoxville, TN, Edwin of Attleboro, MA, and Melvin of Northbridge, MA; two grandchildren, Tiffany Cogdill of Maggie Valley, NC, and Anthony Hickman of Maggie Valley, NC

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Grace Church In the Mountains. Visitation with the family will follow the service. The Reverend Carter Smith, Sarah Millares, and John Harrop will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Grace Church in the Mountains, Endowment Fund-394 N. Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
