Evelyn Pressley

Evelyn Smith Pressley, age 87, died on Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Fort Mill , SC, she had resided in Haywood County most of her life and was the daughter of the late Jethro Callaway and Elizabeth Mae Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Pressley, who died in 1970; a sister, Gwendolyn Gabby; two brothers, Lane M. and Charles Smith; a son, James Howard Pressley, Jr.; and a grandson, David Adam Pressley. She was a member of member of Canton Wesleyan Church. She is survived by a son, Gary Pressley of Canton; two daughters, Doris Davis of Canton and Gail Burrell of Brevard; two sisters-in-law, Louise Pressley of TN and Lula Pressley of Candler; ten grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Terry Penland and Reverend Perry Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the daughters home, 28 Sunset Drive. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 950 W.
