Evelyn Russell

Sylva, Evelyn Elizabeth Patton Russell, age 98, of Dark Ridge Road, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Mildred Shope Patton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Edgar Russell, who died in 1979; two daughters, Linda Beck and Patsy Russell; three sisters; and two brothers. Evelyn enjoyed canning, flowers and working on word search puzzles and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Beulah Phillips of Sylva and Barbara Downs and her husband, Marvin, of Clyde; a son, Willard "Buddy" Russell, Jr. of Sylva; two sisters, Pauline Russell of Bethel and Mary Patton of Canton; two brothers, Cecil and Orie Patton, both of Canton; a son-in-law, Arthur Beck, of Waynesville; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Lloyd Fish officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13 at the funeral home.
