Clyde-Evelyn "Mimi" Massie Williams, age 88, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Angel Medical Center in Franklin. She was a native and life long resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary McNabb Massie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virge Williams, who died in 1971; four brothers, Tom, Vaughn, Bouge, and Gilmer "Dick" Massie; and two sisters, Sally Massie Gunter and Kate Massie. She retired from Mark Donald's Country Store in Clyde as a meat wrapper and deli associate. She was of the Baptist faith, and loved to sew and garden. She is survived by two daughters, Helen "Jenny" Mack and Dorothy "Goldie" Carver, both of Clyde; a son, Donald Williams and his wife, Beth of Clyde; six grandchildren, Tony Mack, Karen Russell, Terry Carver, Tammy Thomas, Mark "Opie" Williams, and Angie Wright; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. The Reverend Edwin Luther will officiate. Burial will follow at Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the services, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Britthaven of Clyde, 47 Morgan Street, Clyde, NC 28721.
