Canton- Everett Wexler Brown, age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at MedWest-Haywood. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late James Horace and Lula Magnolia Moore Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Leatherwood Brown, who died in 1990; a daughter, Brenda Kaye Brown Messer, who died in 2002; five sisters and two brothers. Everett worked as a project manager, building roads for over 40 years. He enjoyed horses and was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. He is survived by his second wife of 14 years, Edith Oliver Brown; four sons, Charles Everett Brown and his wife, Libby, of Lighthouse Point, FL.; Doyle Edward Brown of Canton; Fred Lee Brown and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, of Concord, NC and Billy Brown and his wife, Sandra Ann, of Canton; son-in-law, James Messer of Clyde; a stepson, James Edward Frady and Angie Hall, of Stanley, NC; three step-daughters, Lisa Mae Dawkins and her husband, Fairly Jr., of Stanley, NC, Misty Frady Anderson of Belmont, NC; and Dione St. John and her husband, Jay, of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Belvie Brown King and her husband, Gordon, of Leicester and Artie Johnson of Cullman, AL.; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at East Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Tyler Nations officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
