Evia Conner

September 15, 1912 — March 31, 2006

Waynesville-Evia Louise Reece Conner, age 93, of 89 Fitzgerald Lane, died on Friday, March 31, 2006 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ed Reece and Emeline Conard Reece Reed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Adam Marcus Conner, who died in 1978; two sons, Thad Junior Conner and Clyde Edwin Conner; one brother, Elbert Reece; one half-brother, Theodore Reece. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening and canning. She attended Balsam Baptist Church and was a member of Lake Junaluska Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Leona Demerus Smith (J.B.) of Marion, Ella Mae May (Cecil) of Hazelwood, Isabell Norris (Lewis) is of Daleville, Alabama, and Helen Louise Inman (Riley) of Waynesville; four sons, Floyd Conner, Sr. (Annie Rose) and Raymond Conner, both of Waynesville, Lloyd Robert Conner of Balsam, and Troy Lee Conner of Hendersonville; 44 grandchildren; 84 great grandchildren; and 70 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Balsam Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow at Balsam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Arthur, Marcus, and Keith Conner, Arthur Norris, Charles Smith, and Lewis Inman.
