Waynesville, F. Geneva Palmer Swanger, age 91, of Hyatt Creek Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, October 23, 2010. A native of Clay County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jessie David and Mary Ann Coffee Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Swanger, Sr., three brothers, Jessie D. Palmer, Wilton E. Palmer, Paul A. Palmer and one granddaughter, Mary Elisabeth Chandler. She is survived by one son, Rev. Johnny Swanger and wife Brenda, one daughter, Darlene and husband Tommy Chandler of Waynesville: three grandsons, Rev. Chan Chandler and wife, Melody, Chris Chandler and wife Michelle, Rev. John Swanger and wife Michelle, two granddaughters, Kim S. Bradley and husband Tim, Sarah C. Souderes and husband Rev. David Souderes, ten great grandchildren: Selah, Samuel, Neva Ruth, Nathaniel Ridge, Alex, Hayden, Jacob, Hattie, Elisabeth, Abigail and a special little girl named Ellie who adopted her as one of her "Grandma's". Mrs. Swanger was a faithful member of Green Valley Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, Discipleship Training classes and was active in the Baptist Women Organization as long as she was able to attend. She loved the "Word of God" which she read consistently and lived by. She was known as a "prayer warrior" in her church and community. She was also known as the "jelly lady" in the Hyatt Creek area because she loved to give her neighbors and friends jelly when she visited them or when they came to visit her. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed but her family looks forward to a "Homecoming Day in Glory" where they will be reunited in the presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to never be parted again. A celebration of her life will be held at Green Valley Baptist Church on Hyatt Creek, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by the family. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday night at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. At other times the family will be at Geneva's residence.
