Fannie Jenkins

December 2, 1915 — May 10, 2009

Waynesville, Fannie Lou Jenkins, age 93, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Lincoln Nursing Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Cenie Messer Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Jenkins; three sons, Billy Joe, Bobby and Robert William Jenkins; three sisters and two brothers. Fannie enjoyed the Senior Citizens Center, gardening, farming and the outdoors. She was of Baptist Faith. She is survived by a son, Roy Lee Jenkins, of Waynesville; one daughter, Evelyn Jenkins Hudson, and her husband, James, of Lawndale, NC; one sister, Vegie Palmer, of the State of Washington; a daughter in-law, Edith J. Dockery, of Waynesville; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Long officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Carver, Jamie Biddix, Bobby Dale and Michael Jenkins, Michael Hudson, Tony and Michael Caldwell and Perry Huffling. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
