Fannie Nave

Waynesville- Fannie Mae Galloway Nave, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Fannie Mae was a native of Haywood County where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Levi and Mary Williams Galloway and was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Galloway and two brothers, Mark and Paul Galloway. Throughout her life, she worked at Stovall's 5 & 10 Store in Waynesville, as a substitute teacher in Jackson County, at the Medical Arts Building and as a traffic crossing guard with the Waynesville Police Department. She was a member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church. Fannie Mae loved to cook, enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, needlepoint and had a special love for her cats. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, B.C. Nave; two daughters, Meredith Nave Baker and her husband, Harold McGaha of Clyde and Sherri Nave Arrington and her husband, Joe of the Crabtree Community; three grandsons, Lonnie Nave Buchanan of Coalville, UT, Shanne Austin Baker of the Bethel Community and Calan Nave Arrington of the Crabtree Community; six great-grandchildren, Lonnie, Frank, Elizabeth and Jessica Buchanan of Coalville, UT and Branson and Jacob Baker of Bethel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Claude Conard and Reverend Jay Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Harold McGaha, Joe Arrington, Shanne Baker, Bill Teague, Jimmy Parton, Keith Plemmons, Terry Dillard, Lonnie Buchanan, and Terry Haney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 931, Waynesville, NC 28786, Haywood Regional Medical Center-Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721, Haywood County Schools Foundation, 1230 North Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Autumn Care Nursing Home, P.O. Box 330, Waynesville, NC 28786.
