Canton - Fannie Mae Farmer Mathes Sharpe, age 84, died Monday, June 18, 2007 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late David L. and Lovie Revis Farmer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard R. Mathes; her second husband, Joe B. Sharpe; three brothers, Dewey, Roy and James Farmer; two infant brothers who died at birth; three sisters, Elsie Foster, Ruth Clontz and Margaret Clontz and one step-son, Troy Sharpe. Fannie loved life, family, friends and especially children and animals. She was of the Baptist faith and a very giving person asking nothing but love in return. She will be missed greatly but welcomed with open arms to her heavenly home. She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Mathes Grasty of Clyde, two brothers, Everette Farmer and his wife, Wanda, of Canton, and Raymond Farmer and his wife, Mary Ann Rogers, of Tignall, GA; one sister, Lois Poston of Decatur AL; three step-sons, Reverend Ray, Reverend Roy and Terry Sharpe all of Canton; two grandchildren, Alan Johnson and Andrea Grasty Fox; and two great-grandchildren, Ben and Trevor Johnson; 12 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow at New Morgan Hill Cemetery in Enka. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
