Waynesville, Fannie Pearl "Sally" Trantham, age 79 passed away, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late David Porter Brown and Mollie Caldwell Brown. Sally was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Trantham in 2001 and all her siblings. She retired from American Enka Corporation and was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. Sally was a very loving mother and extremely dedicated wife, caring for her husband during his last years. She was always thinking of others and was a dear neighbor to those who lived by her. A very special thanks to Care Angels for their devoted love and care, as well as to Medwest Haywood Hospice. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Parton of Black Mountain; many nieces and nephews and the McClure children who were near and dear to her heart, and also a very special thanks to her mentor and friend, Reid Brown. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Putnam and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
