Fannie Wilson

December 28, 1914 — August 13, 2007

Fannie Willis Wilson, age 92, died Monday, August 13, 2007, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Johnny W. and Addie Medford Willis. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Woodrow Wilson; three brothers, Troy, Mark, and Ray Willis; and three sisters, Bessie Moffitt, Winnie Parham, and Minnie Teems. She retired from Champion International with 44 years of service. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Fannie loved cooking for friends and family. She also enjoyed working outdoors in her garden. She is survived by a nephew, Michael Willis and his wife, Ruth, of Canton; two nieces, Marcia Willis Conner and her husband, Ben, of Canton and Stephanie Willis Rowden of Clyde; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bruce Cayton and Reverend Stephen Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rockwood United Methodist Church Helping Hand Fund, 288 Crabtree Mountain Road, Canton, NC 28716 or to Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 39 Robinson Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
