Faye Gosnell McDaniel Deal, 79, of Hickory, passed away Friday, October 4th. A native of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Rollins and Sarah Matilda Thomas Gosnell. Faye graduated from Sandhill High School and Dell School of Medical Technology in Asheville. She worked in the medical field for many years before returning to UNC-Wilmington to receive a degree in Substance Abuse Counseling. Faye worked at the Council of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Catawba County Mental Health as a substance abuse counselor. She served on the Board of Directors for Flynn Christian Fellowship Home as well as the Council of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda McDaniels Rice and brother, Jack Rollins Gosnell.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Letha M. (Allen) Wells; grandchildren, Aiden and Payton Wells; sisters, Clara (James) Lovingood, Peggy (Mark) Radford, Deane (Jim) Valentine and Joyce (Jim) Stepp; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gosnell; 7 nieces and nephews and lifelong best friends, Sallie Holt, Bob Lasley and Lisa Mitchel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday, October 9th in the Chapel of Faith, Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
