Faye Guffey

Faye Hall Guffey, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late David Earl and Mamie Swaim Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Guffey, who died in 2002. She was a former employee as a registered nurse for Memorial Mission Hospital and a public health nurse for over 25 years for Haywood County Health Department. Faye was affectionately known as the "Shot Lady" and was an avid book reader. She was a member of Canton First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by one son, James "Danny" Guffey and his wife, Tracy, of Canton; one daughter, Judy Guffey Kirby and her husband, James, of Pisgah Forest; one sister, Jean Fuller of Cleveland, TN; and two grandchildren, Brandi Guffey and Matthew Kirby. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jay Meadows and Chaplain Norm Yearick officiating.
