Waynesville-Finnie L. Timbes, Jr., age 85, 1419 Pigeon Road, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Stanton, Tennessee, and had resided in Haywood County since 1936. He was the son of the late Finnie L. and Lizzie Gilliam Timbes. He was the owner and operator of Timbes Café on Main Street in Waynesville for more than 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his wife, Paulina ''Polly'' Timbes, who died in 1980. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Timbes; three sisters, Mary Lee Jenkins, Annie Morgan, and Betty Baird; and a brother, Gilliam Timbes.
He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Timbes Moore and her husband, Steve; a son, Tim L. Timbes, and his wife, Tanna, both of Waynesville; and three grandchildren, Scott and Chris Moore and Lori Redding.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the services.
