Flora Drake

"1924 – 2014" Canton – Flora West Drake, age 90, passed away on Sunday, 28, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Cherokee County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late, Reverend Fredrick Clyde and Mary Roberson West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Clinton Drake, who died in 1999; a son, Randal Dean Drake; three sisters, Bonnie Baley, Mary Lou Lunsford, and Elizabeth Johnson; four brothers, Claude, Carter, and John West, and an infant brother. Flora was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 66 years, where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, WMU, Vacation Bible School, and the pulpit committee. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Drake Penland of Canton; one son, David Michael Drake of Gulf Breeze, Florida; one sister, Annie Belle Nelson of Canton; one brother, Fredrick "Tam" West of Lincoln Park, Michigan; three grandchildren, Dana Ray Penland of Canton, Lisa McTyre of Destin, Florida, and Karen E. Drake of Orlando, Florida; and one great-grandchild, Garrison McTyre of Destin, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Darrell Webb and Reverend Keith Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
