Florence Robinson

"1913-2017" Canton – Florence Yates Robinson, age 103, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel V. Yates and Betty Presnell Yates. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray S. Robinson in 2008; two brothers, Honea Yates and Benny Yates; three sisters, Ida Baird, Hursta Smith, and Hazel Hill; and four half-sisters. She was formerly employed by Champion International. She is survived by a special nephew, Eugene Yates and his wife, Tiny, of Canton; four nephews, Horace Yates, Charles Yates, Bob Smith, and B.J. Smith; six nieces, Carolyn Sutton, Betty Henderson, Margie Henson, Wanda Nelson, Jody Cagle, and Jean Law; two great-nieces, Cathy Yates Allen and Cynthia Yates Burnette; one great-great-great nephew, Zephyr Burnette; and several additional nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July, 9, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jodi Hopkins and Reverend Clay J. Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Rd. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
