Floyd Brooks

August 28, 1926 — May 11, 2013

Waynesville, Floyd Ernest Brooks, age 86, of Boyd Avenue, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at The Homestead. A native of Erin, Tennessee, he had resided in Haywood County for the past 27 years. He was the son of the late Charles Ernest and Maybell Patterson Brooks and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Owen Brooks, as well as six sisters and three brothers. He was a Corporal in the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired supervisor with 30-years service from the Michigan School System and was a member of Mountain View Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ethel Jean Kirkpatrick Brooks; four sons, Ron Brooks (Shirley), Fred Brooks (Pam), Wayne Brooks (Sandie) and Terry Brooks (Christine); two step-sons, Dean Kirkpatrick (Trudy) and Robert Kirkpatrick (Holly); three sisters, Lucile Haddox, Dottie Hamilton, and Pauline Hackett; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Herman Toney officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
