Waynesville-Floyd Thadus Caldwell, age 82, of 602 Ned Cove Road, died Thursday, December 04, 2003 at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Dave H. and Ivie Maybeal Parton Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by a son, Carmel R. Caldwell in 1988; three sisters, Beaulah Moody, Macy Carver, and Lottie Caldwell; and one brother, Arvil Caldwell. He was a retired farmer and a member of Hemphill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Blanche Evelyn Cagle Caldwell; a son, Dwight Caldwell and his wife, Melissa, of Waynesville; two daughters, Linda Caldwell Evans and her husband, Arthur, and Sharon Caldwell Smith and her husband, Jerry, both of Waynesville; one sister, Ruby Messer and her husband, Lester, of Waynesville and one brother, Melford Caldwell and his wife, Myrtle, of Clyde; and three grandchildren, Ashley and Dave Caldwell and Donna Gail Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m on Sunday, December 7, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Brown and Reverend Dewayne Rathbone officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and at other times, the family will be at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Cagle, Brently Messer, Charles Boyd, William ''Bill'' Davis, James Noland, and Dave Caldwell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Burl Harris, Leon Allison, Benny Messer, Scott Sanders, and Roger Harris.
