Spring Creek-Floyd L. Fish, age 85, of 2898 Conley Road, Morganton, formerly of the Spring Creek Community passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late C.W. and Hattie Lee Fish. He was also preceded in death by one sister and five brothers. He was an army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre. He was a farmer and a member of Lusk Chapel and the VFW Post 5202. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lura Fisher Fish; one daughter, Linda Payne and her husband, James, of Morganton; one sister, Georgia Moore of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Michael Payne, and his wife, Sarah, and Ann-Marie Payne; two great grandchildren, Ethany and Hannah Payne; and well loved nieces, nephews, and close friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Elbert Deason, Reverend Lloyd Fish, Kent Plemmons, and Owen Fish officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Crawford and Robert Fisher, Edwin, Floyd O. and James Fish, Gary Moore, Lee Payne, and Michael Plemmons. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be given to Woody Cemetery, c/o Jimmy Moore, 555 Howard Moore Road, Hot Springs, NC 28743.
