Canton-Floyd Franklin King, age 74, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Charles Franklin and Hassie Letterman King. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles King. Mr. King retired from Champion International with 44 years of service. He formed and directed two great authentic dance teams, Southern Appalachian Cloggers and Great Smoky Mountain Cloggers. He also performed for the Queen of England. He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Keith and her husband Greg of Marietta, GA, one sister Kathleen King Hipps and her husband Phillip of Canton, 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of the sister, 9 Harrison Street, Canton, NC 28716. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, Home Health Bldg, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
