Floyd Smith

March 13, 1935 — September 4, 2004

Canton - Floyd Lee Smith, age 69, of Cherry Street died Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of Cathleen Pardue Smith and the late Wilburn Edward Smith. He retired from Champion International in 1994 with 39 years of service. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also served as a Gideon. He was A United States Army Veteran serving in Korea. He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Edna Barnes Smith of Canton. He is also is survived by two sons, Gary Smith and his wife, Tami of Asheville and Michael Smith and his wife, Linda of Flat Rock; a sister Judith Ann Deese and her husband, Bracy of Canton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2004 at Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverend Chris Stevens, Rev. Dr. Virgil Holloway and Reverend Harold Webb officiating. Entombment will follow at The Horizon Mausoleum of Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon - 1:45 p.m. Monday prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brotherhood Club of Beulah Baptist Church, 483 Sunset Circle, Canton, NC 28716 or to Gideon International, East Haywood Camp, Box 1204, Canton, NC 28716. Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
