Floyd Stevenson

January 22, 1935 — March 29, 2015

Waynesville, Floyd Lee Stevenson of Iron Duff Road passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Douglas and Fannie Henson Stevenson and was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. He was a former employee of the Dayco Corporation and a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. Floyd enjoyed horses, fox hunting and helping others. He loved to talk and play practical jokes on friends and family. Floyd is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geneva Allison Stevenson; daughter, Brenda Thomas (Bill) of Cleveland, Tennessee; son, Eddie Stevenson (Janice) of Waynesville; brother, Amos Stevenson (Ruth) of Waynesville; six grandchildren, Micah Thompson (Jamie), Nicole Samuelson (Tommy), Nathan Hartgrove (Taylor), Dereak Owen (Crystal) and Tara and Brian Stevenson; eight great-grandchildren, Dakota and Dylan Bishop, Ava, Karee and Garren Thompson, Elliott Hartgrove and Zavith and Zaiden Owen; and other loving family and friends, Brittany Thomas, Kristin Martin, Leslie Thomas and Georgia and Neil Fowler. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
