Clyde-Foster Milburn Ferguson, age 89, of Max Patch Road in the Fines Creek Community, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Zebulon Vance and Bettie Redmond Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by a wife, Dorothy Miklas Ferguson; a son, Harold Lee Ferguson; four brothers, Hugh, Steve, Mark, and Jim Ferguson; and two sisters, Helen and Viola Ferguson. He was a navy veteran of World War II, having served in the North Atlantic Theater. He graduated from Fines Creek High School and Western Carolina University. He also took post graduate classes at the University of Georgia and special courses at Ohio State University. He worked in construction for three years, taught school for three years in North Carolina, and one year in Alexander, Virginia. He worked for several federal government agencies including, GAO, AEC, Corp of Engineers, and NASA in various locations throughout the country. He retired in 1976 and returned to North Carolina to build a house on the old home place and enjoyed years of retirement. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lucy James Ferguson; a daughter, Betty Phillips and her husband, Hugh, of Acworth, Georgia; a sister, Lucille Noland DuBois of Hilton Head, South Carolina; and three grandchildren, Daniel, Heather, and Katie Phillips. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. Reverend James Moore will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
