Waynesville, Foster David Lee Trantham, age 73, of 1178 Edwards Cove Road, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Violet Hall Trantham and was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Trantham. He was retired from B.A.S.F. and attended Faith Community Church. He was a former deacon at Spirit and Truth Baptist Church and Welcome Hill Baptist Church. Foster created laughter and joy wherever he went. He let his light shine in the darkest places. He praised Jesus during the happy and sad times of his life. Foster also loved fishing, camping, and bluegrass and gospel music. He will be remembered for loving everyone, his great sense of humor, and his kindness and humility. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Claudia Chambers Trantham; a daughter, Regina Lea Trantham Sheehan and her husband, Michael Joseph Sheehan; three sisters, Carolyn Phillips and her husband, Herman, of Canton, and Charlotte Hall and Ernestine Earley, both of Waynesville; one brother, Coleman Trantham and his wife, Bell, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Isaac and Shaya Violet Sheehan; many special nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart; and his Maltese, Sheba. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Jenkins, Reverend Chris Jennings and Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all of his caregivers who gave wonderful love and care to Foster during his extended illness especially, the Staff at DaVita Dialysis Center and his doctors, Dr. Thomas Ward, Dr. Lawrence, and Dr. Maddox.
