"Wonderful Mother"
Waynesville, Frances "Fran" Katherine Ferguson, 83, on Tuesday January 16, 2018 it was a beautiful, brisk day in the mountains of Western North Carolina, a place that Fran felt blessed to call home. It was here that Fran, lovingly known to her family as "Tootie", passed away with comfort, peace and grace, surrounded by those that loved her dearly.
A native of Halifax County, Virginia, Fran was the daughter of the late Lewis and Sallie Edmondson Tulloh. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Allen; her first husband, Stacy Stevens and her second husband, Ray Ferguson. Fran was a follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Fran possessed an infectious love of life and relished time spent with family and friends. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong, quilting, playing golf and most of all traveling. Having lived in many areas of the country, as well as Germany, she believed in "blooming where you're planted". And that's exactly what she did! Her life was an amazing example of ministering to and loving others.
Fran is survived by her children, Anne Lucero-Korssjoen, and her husband, Bruce, of Midland, Texas, Karen Hummert, of Fletcher, and Leigh Ladd, and her husband, Carl, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, Mary Jenkins, and her husband, Randy, of Canton, North Carolina, Mark Stevens, and his loving girlfriend, Donna, of Palm Coast Florida; brother, Bill Tulloh, and his wife, Linda, of Palm Coast, Florida; as well as nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; and her very dear friend, Walter Lee; and her loving dog, Zoey.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim McConnell and Reverend Michael Rich officiating. Immediately after the service, friends and family will gather in the fellowship hall to continue the celebration of this amazing woman's life.
Fran leaves us rich in memories.
