Frances Hart

Lake Junaluska, NC – Frances Cobb Hart, 79, of 48 Hart Lane, died on November 2, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late C. Ernest and Mary Elliott Cobb of Lake Junaluska, NC and Seminole Florida. Frances was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School and Wesleyan College, Macon, GA. Most of her married years were spent in support of and serving with her minister husband. In 1982, her husband was appointed to the Lake Junaluska Staff, and she too was added to the staff the next year. She managed the Taping Office at Stuart Auditorium for five years. In 1987, she was elected Director of the Southeastern Jurisdiction Commission on Archives and History and The Heritage Center. She served in this capacity during the development and establishment of a new location for the archival collection and the planning and implementation of the Southeastern Jurisdiction Heritage Museum until her retirement in 1992. In retirement, she and her husband served Clyde Central United Methodist Church in "Special Ministry" for several years and also served as a volunteer part-time director during the first years of the restoration of the historic Shook House in Clyde, NC. She also was a member of the Washington Pike United Methodist Church, Knoxville, TN and an Associate member of Central United Methodist church, Clyde, NC. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Reverend James W. Hart; two sons, Steve Hart of Naples, FL and Larry Hart and his wife, Ginger Hain, of Waynesville, NC; two grandchildren, Ashby Hart of Waynesville, NC and Maya Frances Hart, Naples, FL; one brother, Alvin E. Cobb, of Hendersonville, NC; and a brother-in-law, John J. Wise, of Dowling Park, FL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Waynesville. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Clyde Central United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Tingle and Reverend Chris Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Holston Conference Cemetery, Emory, VA with Dr. Richard Timberlake officiating. Memorials may be made to the Heritage Center, P.O. Box 1165, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745; Clyde Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, Clyde, NC 28721; Washington Pike United Methodist Church, 2241 Washington Pike, Knoxville, TN 37917; or other church/charity of your choice.
