Frances Jimison

Canton - Frances Raper Jimison, age 76, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was a native of Cherokee County before moving to Haywood County where she resided for 56 years. She was the daughter of the late Columbus Edgar and Carrie Webster Raper. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Raper, two infant brothers and an infant sister.

She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was active in the Baptist Women's Association. She retired from the Haywood County School System. She was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and was an excellent seamstress. She is survived by her beloved poodle, Missy.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, Tom W. Jimison of Canton, she is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Patton and her husband, Jack of Canton and Kathy J. Cody and her husband, Mike of Clyde; three sons, Mike Jimison and his wife, Darlene of King's Mountain, Don Jimison and his wife, Maila of Canton and Dewayne Jimison of Charlotte; two sisters, Frankie Hunter and Bessie Dunn of Murphy; a brother, Robert Raper of Murphy as well as eight grandchildren, Aaron and Amy Patton, Dr. Jill Lambert, Bethany Jimison, Mark and Chris Cody, Joshua and Erika Jimison.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13th at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Reverends Bruce Cayton and James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Tom Jimison, 369 Wrightsville Road. The family wishes to thank the Haywood County Home Health Care nurses for the care they provided.
