"Unique Lady" Clyde – Frances Lucille Stroupe Passmore, age 86, passed away on Sunday, June 02, 2013 at The Oaks at Sweeten Creek. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence "Shorty" and Mary Josephine Stroupe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Passmore, who died in 1996; a son, Gordon Leon Gibson; two brothers, Robert and Ben Stroupe; and a grandson, Clay LeGrand. Frances had a wonderful sense of humor and had a special way of putting a smile on people's faces. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking especially her wonderful meatloaf and prune cakes. Frances was also talented with crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Louise Arrington and her husband, David, of Canton; one son, Jim Passmore and his wife, Priscilla, of Arden; one sister-in-law, Iva Lee Grant and her husband, Dillard, of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Jimmy Trantham officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to The Oaks staff for their professional love and care.
